Product Safety Culture

Producing a product that is safe for the consumer is a core value in many organisations, be it in beauty and personal care or aviation and automobiles. Examples of an integrally damaged product that resulted in grievous bodily harm are numerous, even in successful, well-established companies. After these incidents take place, investigations will almost always highlight a failing in culture. More often than not it is not down to a single point of failure, but rather the case of a perfect storm involving many parts of the organisation.

This is why it is important to tackle culture as a business-critical area, meaning head-on, in a proactive way, to find the cultural strains and stresses before something goes wrong. If you are not measuring your product safety culture, no matter how hard you try it is almost impossible to be fully managing it.

How can you measure your company’s product safety culture?

Our assessment looks at the 4 Ps in your organisation to identify strengths and weaknesses in product safety knowledge, attitudes and practical behaviour. Quantitative and qualitative data allow you to celebrate and build on your successes and create practical action plans to improve on any areas of risk.

In People, the aim is a workforce of informed, empowered employees who are motivated to prioritise product safety at all times.

In Process, it is the smooth-running of the organisation to facilitate consistently safe behaviours without compromising growth and development.

In Purpose, the ultimate goal is working successfully together towards a shared vision for the future in which product safety is an undisputed non-negotiable.

And finally, in Proactivity, it is an organisation that can learn and grow, getting increasingly efficient and effective at managing risk and achieving excellence.
